A few thoughts on the nominations. (That golden glow comes from the Pulp Fiction briefcase).

Could you explain to me how Sam Rockwell missed out for moon, and do you agree with that decision? Also, no cinematography for a serious man? That seems almost criminal.
Sean, Sam Rockwell was very good in Moon, and deserved to be nominated, but the BIGGEST SNUB was Nicolas Cage for The Bad Lieutenant. That is the best piece of acting I have seen in the last decade. How the academy didn’t vote that in is beyond me. The Academy must not have seen the movie or something. Its just a joke.
Also, The Blind Side being nominated for Best Picture over 500 Days of Summer, I Love You Man, Its Complicated, Bad Lieutenant, and the list goes on and on. This has to be a fake list right? If you look up members of the Academy you will be shocked to see out of the 5,000 plus members, about 1200 of them are actors, some of which are terrible actors. And you know in their busy lives, that they do not see all the movies. It should be a requirement to have to see all the movies. This is a joke. Fuck the academy awards. Fuck you academy, seriously, Fuck you.
Will all this ‘blind side’ hysteria make Sandra bullock a shoe in for best actress or will they acknowledge the superior performance given by Streep?
Shouldn’t Cotillard have been nominated instead of Cruz?
Other than best actress all of the other major acting categories have a very obvious winner which makes things less interesting.
Oh, and is the only reason Tilda Swinton wasn’t nominated for ‘Julia’ and Sam Rockwell for ‘Moon’ because not enough money was put into marketing their movies? Based on quality of performance Swinton should have been nominated instead of Mirren and Rockwell instead of Freeman.
Kudos to Sam Rockwell. There is a lot of love in the film. He saw himself from different perspectives. He was alone even when he had company. A whole film with not one other actor but two of the same actor and by the end I was so wrapped up in the character(s) and the story I no longer cared that the visual effects were a little on the cheesy side. Like the old Twilight Zone series, the strength of the story (and in this case Rockwell’s performance) rendered the props unimportant.

I’d like to be your friend, Richard, but for now I’ll just settle for being able to see your thoughts on this morning’s nominations.

It was an effective suspense-building ploy!
Good to see you sharing your thoughts in video form again. Looking forward to more!

I really don’t like that there’s 10 nominations now, because things like The Blind Side are getting nominated.

Sorry, but all I could think of was Conan O’Brien & “in the year 2000″. I think most of if not all the Golden Globe winners will also get Oscars.
